Musikz - inspirations and idols etc

Post by Snowpea on Wed Sep 02, 2009 8:00 pm

Laura Marling -
the only female who will be featured on this list, and for good reason. This used to be my least favourite song, so if you think 'i like her voice, but not the song', go and have a look at some more, i felt like that originally.
Song to check out - Blackberry Stone

---------------------------------------------------

Johnny Flynn -
I loved this guy from the get-go, but I know (particularly the females) some of my friends felt him 'Too Folky' antically, so granted it might not be to all of your tastes.
Song to check out - Shore to Shore

---------------------------------------------------

Mumford and Sons -
Recently at the cambridge folk festival, was interviewed on Stephen fry's radio show recently, oh and 'little lion man' (see bellow) was on the radio the other day, they deserve the publicity, they are very talented guys.
Song to check out - Little Lion Man

---------------------------------------------------

Noah and the Whale -
Most people know them for '5 Years Time', personally one of my least favourite songs of theirs. Currently have a new album out, the songs that are on there are definitely 'better' than their last, in my opinion. I'll show you Alex's favourite song from the new album.
Song to check out - Blue Skies

---------------------------------------------------

Bon Iver -
Skinny Love, Flume, Stacks, Blood bank, Team (many more) amazing group. the story behind the singer- songwriter Justin Vernon is sick.
Song to check out - The Wolves (Act l & ll)

---------------------------------------------------

Marcus Foster -
The whole 'Twilight' thing got this guy and the next quite well known by fangirls, particularly in america. Despite this, he is my favourite singer/song writer, and in my opinion, should be known and listen to by a lot more than he currently is. (he talks a bit at the start of this video,)
Song to check out - Circle in the Square

---------------------------------------------------

Bobby Long -
I've recently got more into Bobby, he's a real inspiration, he only started learning to play the guitar at 17, just like me Smile
I'll show you my favourite song of his at the moment, he has a pretty guitar haha
Song to check out - The Frost

---------------------------------------------------

Sam Bradley -
I discovered this guy last and is probably my least favourite simply because I haven't listened to him as much, but his and music are fantastic, take a look for yourself.
Song to check out - Sea Blue
