Flexibility

Post by Sam on Tue Jan 20, 2009 2:09 pm

As some of you might have read, I'm going to be trying to improve my flexiblity, mainly my dynamic flexiblity. The best way I think I'll be able to achieve this is through waking up earlier then normal, doing a bit of light exercise (perhaps a jog round the block) then doing a flexibility set mainly focused on dynamic flexibility but perhaps some days I'll do some static instead. Hopefully this'll improve both my tricking (since my dominant outer-cresent kicks are crap) and hopefully stuff like my tucks and such.

But anyway, any advice to share?

my advice is to do it. Its not gonna improve until about 2weeks then you will start to be able to see a difference so dont get disheartened, just do it religiously. Stick to it Smile x

Smile thanks, any recommendations as to how many days a week I should do it? I was thinking maybe 3 days a week perhaps more, making sure not to over-do-it each time, else I may hit issues lol.

If three days a week is feasible for you, and you think you can stick to it then do that for now. If you find yourself not doing it thrice a week knock it back down to two days a week Smile

I'd say have set light stretching days (these could be the warm ups at gym if done correctly)

And then have hard stretching days. Static stretching, however I'd say do PNF type stretching which although hard when alone is not impossible. Lots of sites dedicated to how to effectively stretch.

Also I'm sure you already know but make sure you are warm when stretching! Stretching Cold is dangerousssssss! Smile
